Below are Veteran journals, venues, and community involvement opportunities in the central Texas area.
Journal of Interactive Veteran Experiences (JIVE)
Per the JIVE website
“The Journal of Interactive Veteran Experiences (JIVE) recognizes the lack of inclusive spaces for veterans in the publishing industry. It aims to provide a space for veterans to share their experiences in a format that is comfortable for them and gain valuable publishing experience. JIVE was founded on the values of inclusivity, support, and respect. In the words of our editor, JIVE ardently believes “that the voices of our veterans deserve to be heard, understood, and appreciated.” This journal is a humble attempt to bridge the gap between veteran’s experiences and our understanding of them as a community.”

Patriots Hall of Dripping Springs
The mission of Patriots’ Hall of Dripping Springs is to create a permanent retreat and resource hub for veterans, active military and their families to connect, grow, and thrive. Everyday, Veterans of recent wars and conflicts return home to face financial difficulties, family transition, and emotional and physical challenges due to their military service. These men and women tend to turn to a computer screen for online support and camaraderie. Patriots’ Hall of Dripping Springs welcomes Veterans and Active Duty members to explore therapeutic workshops, art classes, education and employment seminars, social gatherings, land stewardship and VA Claims Assistance.

Voices of Veterans
The “Voices of Veterans” program seeks to record the stories of Texas Veterans through their time in service and after returning home from combat. The Oral History program seeks to record the stories of Texas Veterans and archive their stories in the Texas General Land Office for future researchers, historians, genealogists and the general public. Voices of Veterans ensures these stories of courage and service can inspire Texans for generations to come.
